I'm Dr. Laura McNeill, creator of Instructional Design Career Academy. IDCA offers career coaching, mentoring, training, 1:1 development, skill advancement, and group programs for new, aspiring, and experienced instructional design, e-learning, and technology industry practitioners, and job seekers.
I earned my Ph.D. from The University of Alabama, where I studied trends and issues in the ID industry, researched instructional design best practices, and developed a new, more effective way for new IDs to land their first jobs AND for experienced IDs to make a large, lucrative career moves.
For the past several years, I've taught instructional design courses for graduate students at private and public universities across the Southeast. As a senior instructional designer, I've developed courses for Texas A&M University Law School, the University of Alabama, Ascension Healthcare, and Regions Bank. I've been fortunate to work with subject matter experts in London, New York, California, and across the nation.
In a past life, I worked in the television industry as an anchor for two CBS affiliates in New York and Alabama. I continue to speak at workshops and conferences in the U.S. and internationally on training strategies, leadership, and instructional design.
I live in Birmingham, AL with her family and two English Labs, Saga and Carson.
